Location: Columbia, MD
Compensation Range: $100,000 – $122,000 (annualized USD)
Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph


Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer (SWE0) to join a forward-thinking engineering team focused on building next-generation software solutions using modern DevOps practices and emerging technologies. This role is designed for individuals at the beginning of their software engineering career who are eager to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

As an SWE0, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support the development, deployment, and operation of applications and infrastructure that enable modern, scalable platforms. You will gain exposure to cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and AI-enabled systems, while contributing meaningfully to real production environments.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and automated build and deployment of software applications.

  • Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows under the guidance of senior engineers.

  • Learn and apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform to manage cloud resources.

  • Use Python to help develop backend services, scripts, and automation.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of modern web applications and APIs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to integrate solutions across platforms.

  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to support quality and maintainability.

  • Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and best practices.


Skills Requirements

  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Python.

  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD principles.

  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.

  • Familiarity with web development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Strong curiosity and desire to learn about AI/ML, cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.


Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with serverless computing (e.g., AWS Lambda) and/or containerization (e.g., Docker).

  • Interest in web security, application monitoring, or observability concepts.

  • Exposure to network fundamentals, profiling, or device fingerprinting concepts.

  • Experience with mobile application development or SDKs.

  • Personal, academic, or internship projects using relevant technologies.


Education & Experience Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
    OR

  • 4+ years of relevant professional or practical experience in lieu of a degree

(This role does not require prior professional experience and is suitable for early-career candidates.)


Compensation & Employment Policy

Salary is determined by multiple factors, including location, education, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000 – $122,000 (annualized USD).
